Attractions - Your journey continues to Mihintale, the ‘Cradle of Buddhism’
. Excursion in Habarana or Sigiriya with a traditional ox cart ride,

to the scenic lake (in Sigiriya or Habarana) and much more, like a catamaran ride/
or elephant ride.

Sigiriya/Polonnaruwa

Attractions - Sigiriya Rock Fortress is arguably the most iconic cultural site Sri Lanka
has to offer. A visit to the Lion Rock of Sigiriya, with beautiful frescoes of
topless "Cloud Maidens" can be seen, painted at dizzying heights in a
cave. Afternoon - In Polonnaruwa, first explore the archaeological park
and royal palaces, one of them belonging to King Parakramabahu. The Sacred Quadrangle includes Sathmahal
Prasadaya, a pyramidal seven-story structure, and the circular Vatadage
relic house, various other relic houses, and the Stone Book Gal Pota. Particularly
impressive is the rock temple Gal Vihara with four Buddha statues carved into a single rock.

Kandy

Attractions - First, visit the ancient caves of Dambulla, located in a 200-meter-high
rock and home to countless seated, standing, and reclining Buddha statues of every
form and size, some of which were carved directly into the grotto rock. A stop
in Matale to visit the spice garden (herb garden in Matale) on the way to Kandy
. In the morning, experience one of the highlights of your trip: a visit
to the famous Temple of the Tooth (UNESCO World Heritage Site), where a tooth
of the Buddha is kept as a sacred relic, and witness one of the Puja ceremonies, held three times daily.
Later, you will experience a colorful performance of traditional dances and
acrobatics.

Attractions - Visit the beautiful Peradeniya Botanical Garden, featuring an

Attractions - The route through the central highlands features lush green, gentle hills of
tea fields. Afterwards, visit a tea factory where you can learn about the processing of freshly
picked leaves into dried tea of various qualities. Take a city tour through
Nuwara Eliya, including the racecourse and parks like Gregory Lake Park. An 18-hole
golf course, and especially the charming post office with its clock tower.

Attractions - Scenic train ride through the Sri Lankan mountains with stunning views – an

Bandarawela /Yala

Attractions : Hike up to Little Adam’s Peak for a beautiful view of Ella Rock,
Rawana Falls. Afterwards, visit the so-called "Elephant Transit Home,"
which serves as a sanctuary for orphaned baby elephants. Continue to Kataragama. The
temple complex there is possibly the only place where Hindus, Buddhists
and Muslims gather for worship.

Yala / Galle

Attractions - Early morning safari in Yala National Park, one of the best
places in Asia to spot leopards (with some luck). Yala National Park is
known for its diverse wildlife, including mammals like elephants, sloth bears, and
over 130 bird species, as well as reptiles like crocodiles to admire. Continue
to Galle. The main attraction of the city of Galle is the Dutch Fort, the picturesque
Grote Kerk (Great Church), a 150-year-old Meera Mosque, and a clock tower built from massive
stone blocks. You'll find more hotels, churches, restaurants, galleries, cafes, bars
, shops, and museums. The fort and its remnants are definitely worth a visit.
The Dutch church is highly recommended to visit due to its Dutch Brabantine
Gothic style. Galle Fort also offers one of the most breathtaking landscapes of the
Gothic style.
